Less safe London neighbourhoods

Lower-income boroughs of London often have higher crime rates. These areas of London are considered to be less privileged in that sense:

• Barking and Dagenham. Located in East London, this area has traditionally been one of the less affluent parts of the city. It faces challenges like higher unemployment rates and lower average incomes.
  
• Tower Hamlets. Despite the proximity to the financial district of Canary Wharf, Tower Hamlets has stark contrasts in wealth, with parts experiencing significant poverty and social housing issues.
  
• Hackney. This East London borough has seen considerable gentrification in recent years, but it still faces challenges with poverty levels, particularly in certain areas.
  
• Newham. Also in East London, Newham includes areas with high levels of poverty. It’s known for its cultural diversity and young population.
  
• Haringey. Haringey, in North London, includes areas with economic challenges. It’s a borough of contrasts, with affluent areas like Highgate and Muswell Hill, and less affluent areas like Tottenham.
  
• Brent. Located in North West London, Brent has areas facing economic hardship. It’s known for its ethnic diversity and vibrant cultural scene.
  
• Lewisham. In South London, Lewisham includes pockets of poverty, especially in areas closer to Deptford and Catford, despite undergoing regeneration.
  
• Southwark. Southwark, south of the River Thames, has areas of significant economic disparity, with some neighbourhoods experiencing higher levels of poverty.
  
• Croydon. Located in South London, Croydon has diverse neighbourhoods with varying economic conditions. Some areas face higher poverty and unemployment rates.
